To truly understand simulator accuracy, we first have to understand the normal flight envelope and what they mean for simulator software. Essentially, simulators are designed with a use case in mind. Most training scenarios revolve around keeping an aircraft inside the normal flight envelope. If you fall out of the envelope, you've failed the test. That means that simulator developers don't need to have data that reflects what happens outside the normal flight envelope. because of this, many simulated events outside the envelope just don't behave how you would expect. This leaves many pilots vulnerable during an upset simply because they have no idea what the plane is going to do.
In this video, Brian discusses what this means for pilots practically, and what options pilots have to protect themselves and their passengers.
